Paul O’Kane has hailed the success of the surgeries he held across West Scotland over the Summer recess.
The Scottish Labour politician’s series of surgeries, some of which were held jointly with MPs and councillors, saw him take to streets and supermarkets in the region to engage with constituents.
O’Kane held his ‘Supermarket Surgeries’ in Bishopbriggs, Bearsden, Renfrew, Barrhead, Greenock and Clydebank.
The MSP’s ‘Street Surgeries’ were held in Lochwinnoch, Johnstone, Barrhead, Bridge of Weir and Neilston.
O’Kane was joined on some of his surgeries by new MPs including Blair McDougall, Martin McCluskey, Johanna Baxter and Douglas McAllister.

Commenting Scottish Labour MSP Paul O’Kane said:
“I don’t want to take it for granted that constituents who have issues or concerns will contact their local representatives –holding supermarket and street surgeries is another way of ensuring people can get in touch with about the issues that matter to them.
“It has been a really busy time and I’ve been out and about with new MPs and with local Councillors talking to local people about their issues in their community and seeing what we can do to help.
“I believe it’s vitally important to counter what you sometimes hear people say, “we only see you at election time”.
“Being visible and accessible to local people is what our jobs are all about and that’s why I’ll certainly be looking to hold more of these surgeries in the months to come.”
